  • Needs a lot of work

Google Play Music had its fair issue but it worked wonderfully. No lag when scrolling through your music, songs resume where they were stopped when connecting via Bluetooth, repeat and shuffle settings are remembered. YouTube Music on the other hand is the opposite and also makes it a pain to look at my playlist or albums. These should be the default UI when going into the app, and the shuffle/repeat button shouldn’t be hidden and left out by default. I’ve paid for Google play music subscription but am debating on canceling the service and going to a different music player if things aren’t sorted soon.
  • Key features of a music app dont work

So lets say you listened to some music and liked some songs (added to liked playlist). Now you found a song of a completely new genre, and decided to “start radio” using the new genre. Well within 3-5 songs the radio will start playing songs from your liked playlist and switch back to the style of music you previously liked. I started a radio on “The Hu” (mongolian folk metal) but since i had liked some Glenn Miller (1920s swing) within 3 songs I was listening to “In the mood”. Also whenever you start a radio off of a song, the songs that are selected next are almost always the same, theres never any variety. With Google Play Music I was able to discover new bands and whatnot, but with Youtube Music, i end up listening to the same 50 songs over and over because it never recommends me anything new.

  • On and off

    By Sniajdbsjn
When I switched over from google play music I thought it would mostly be the same. I’m a runner and stick my phone in my pocket, so I turn off my phone and the music would continue playing. But is it that now if I turn off my phone the music doesn’t continue? It’s very frustrating because while I’m also trying to use other apps and listen to music it doesn’t work. And I don’t want to pay for that when I used to get it for free. And another thing, when I would click on an album it would also include songs similar to the ones in the album. Now it’s all one artist and no variety and it’s very irritating. Others might find this normal but I’m not clicking with this music platform.
  • my music with advertisements

they forced me to move MY music to this new service from google play and now instead of getting to listen to MY music when ever I want. I have to suffer through advertisements between each song. And on cell data not wifi it tells me every song I have the isn't in the correct “video” format, but its a song not a music video. So, why did I have to transfer from a free program to this garbage?
  • Unusable offline

I used to be angry at the Google Play Music app’s bugginess and lagginess and frequent crashes, but I would do anything to go back. Why? Because in that app, you could access all of your music, including uploads, organized by artist when offline, simply by switching on a “downloads only” toggle. Now when you’re offline it’s just a list of albums—no way to search!—and your options are to find the album you want (no, can’t shuffle everything by a particular artist) or to shuffle all of your downloaded songs. That’s it. Why in the world would they punish people who choose to download their music? Not to mention that the lag between songs when shuffling is horrendous; I think the app has severe trouble with large downloaded libraries. Also: the catalogue has been reduced in the transition from Google Play Music to YouTube Music—there is only one Chromatics album available, for example (and the rest of the Italians Do It Better label is also sorely lacking); the full catalogue used to be available. What the hell. Fix this unusable garbage, which is an embarrassment for a paid service.
  • Music not loading

    By Jostar1god
So starting about a week ago, whenever I would login to play my YouTube music, my music wouldn’t show up in my playlist section. So then while noticing this I thought OK maybe I should just close the app and then reopen it, so that’s what I did, but it still did the same thing when not showing my music in my playlist section. So what I did is I try to uninstalled and reinstall the app to see if that would fix the problem, it didn’t. So after using YouTube music now for about a month I have come to the conclusion stating that YouTube music is not always at its best.
