  • Broken app

    By JGoodard
App is essentially non-functional. The app will launch-eventually-and that’s about it. Crashes, stalls, freezes, you name it. Access to course videos? Sorry, the server can’t be accessed! Note, the website isn’t much better. Probably she think twice before ordering a subscription, no point when you can’t access content.
  • Great content but average app

I listen to lectures as audio at night to sleep, the app successfully finishes one lecture and starts the next about 10% of the time. You also can’t browse the lectures while listening to one, you can’t jump forward or backwards within a lecture (like you can with podcasts). Instead if you hit the forward button from your toolkit (swipe up) it skips to the next lecture. Does this make sense? Why??
  • Only gave 5 stars so it would be seen!!

I signed up for what was described as a 7 day free trial. I wanted to make sure the content was enough to warrant the expense. I was charged same day and when I sent a message I was told that they don’t offer free trials and if there was one it was through Apple not them so basically, sorry about your luck, you’ll have to dispute it with Apple. Disgraceful customer service.
  • Buggy video player

    By t27bg29
Excellent content delivered via a buggy video player. Video and audio are frequently out of sync when resuming playback (especially when playing at speed greater than 1x). Sometimes, while resuming playback there is no audio, and the video plays independently! Last-played-time is not saved correctly between sessions. When switching between the app and website, it does not even remember that a video was watched on the app. Update 7/17/2020: More bugs: the cards shown in the continue watch section keep jumping around. If a, b are displayed under continue watching, then clicking on ‘a’ causes ‘b’ to be played! I still like the content in the app. It’s just that the app does a huge disservice to the content, by offering such a suboptimal experience.
  • Good content, bad app.

I like the courses and I like that you can download them on the app. My biggest problem is the audio controls. If you are playing the audio of a lecture and you turn off your phone, the only options to scrub though the audio is to skip to the next lecture. I know this sounds knit picky but please add a way to skip 30 seconds or so when you turn your phone off. Also if you play a lecture in the car and are using google maps it just plays behind google voice so you miss what they are saying every time google gives you directions.
  • Literally unusable

App freezes or crashes after about six seconds. Avoid like the plague until an update comes. Update, 7/1/20: okay, the app was updated... and it’s still just as broken as ever. Still freezes *every time I open it*. What a piece of garbage.
  • Great courses, average app

    By Said AlRiyami
The courses quality are great. The main problem is the download feature of the app is not working with me. Please fix the problem. Also, make the wishlist and courses that I am interested in more useful and give more control there. Thanks
  • Horrible app ruins great content

How did the app developers mess this up so badly? The Great Courses Plus has amazing lectures, but the app is buggy enough that you’ll struggle to access it. The app constantly forgets that it’s connected to the internet, locking me out of the lectures. It’s sluggish and often unresponsive. I subscribed to TGCP because I want to be able to listen to lectures during my long commute to work. This app makes that nearly impossible.
  • Love GCP but the app is so so

    By Destinyj
I am loving the course on the Plague that I am listening to. I loved my free trial so much I bought the year subscription. I am doing the audio only, listening while I drive. I have two major complaints with the app: 1) It pauses when someone calls me but when I answer the phone, the audio starts to play again with the phone call causing me not to hear my call and miss some of the lecture. I have to fiddle with my phone while driving to turn it off as my car’s control screen will not revert to control the app until after I hang up the call. My podcast and kindle apps pause with the call and resume when the call ends 2) The app sometimes does not save my place the lecture. I have to run around for where I was at.
  • loses my place

    By sadesingswell
If I use the Roku app, or even if I don't, this app keeps losing my place in the course. Other apps can keep track of my position on different platforms. Plus, when I click the support link in the App Store, it lands on an error 404 page!
