  • Requires third party website account

And doesn’t work with iOS’s password autofill. No thanks.
  • Really good cookbook

I love this app. The one I used for years suddenly stopped updating, and kiss of doom coming. This one is perfect, except it doesn’t work with Apple Pencil ver 2. You can easily download recipes from the web, pretty much effortlessly. You can use OCR, copy and paste, and simple text entry in addition. My main problem is having 500 recipes to transfer over and it takes a while. This was one of my "fake" pandemic tasks to complete, but my rage over discovering the fake King Flu did me in.
  • Fantastic - Cross-platform Ease

This app is fantastic. Super easy to import recipes and modify them. Conversions are great. I purchased on both iOS and Android to have access to my recipes on all my devices. Worth it!
  • Very Impressed

By far the most advanced cookbook app I’ve used!
  • Spooky glitches

    By You ripped me off
I just purchased this app and think it has tremendous potential, but it has bizarre things it does to spook me. It changed 4 cups of chicken broth to 4 1/4 cups chicken broth. 1 tsp sesame paste became 1.01 (what?!). 2 tsp grated garlic became 2.03. It’s like it’s worried I’m using too little of each ingredient. Despite what my sister says I am not using too little garlic and I don’t appreciate the feedback, app.
  • Recent convert from Pepperplate

    By VenturaLiza
Several years ago I became a big fan of online/digital recipe managers and weekly meal planners. For many years, I used Pepperplate, which was free, and I enjoyed it greatly. However, no updates were being performed and performance was dwindling and then they instituted a $3 monthly fee, so it was time to make the switch. I spent several days researching before deciding that CookBook had most of the features I wanted. I have been using this app for nearly 3 months now, slowly importing my 200+ recipe database I had created in Pepperplate. I really like the ease of importing recipes from the web. It imports photos, which Pepperplate never did, so that’s great. I also like that the list of ingredients shows on the left while you can scroll through the recipe steps on the right of the screen. Easily adjusting the recipe for the number of servings and between imperial or metric or US conversions is helpful. The app has a nice, clean, aesthetic and fits with my style. It is pleasing to the eye and to my utilitarian nature. Importing from Pepperplate via .txt files works okay, but several fields don’t import so I have chosen to pay for a few months of Pepperplate service just to make sure all my data transfers completely. I do not use the grocery list portion of the app because I have another app I already use for that task and prefer. I am looking forward to when the website is updated to function as well as the tablet and phone apps. I like sitting down at my computer for menu planning. I would also like to see the ability to easily “swap” recipes from one day to another by simply clicking and dragging on the web browser, or within the app, to choose which day and meal to swap a recipe. This was available in Pepperplate. Another helpful feature that I like within Pepperplate that I don’t see in CookBook is the ability to plan a meal that I corporates a few recipes. For example: I make spaghetti and meatballs for dinner one night and I have a recipe for the sauce and one for the meatballs. I would like to create a meal that had both recipes so that then I can simple add that meal to the planner and both recipes automatically appear. This same feature would meet my need for menu items for “leftovers” or “dinner out” rather than creating a blank recipe. These few suggestions are the only ways that I see that CookBook could be improved. These few improvements are the only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars for my review. Also, the customer service seems to be great. I emailed with a question and got a reply within 24 hours. This is of high value to me. Thanks for creating this great app! I look forward to using it for many years to come.
  • Love this!

I looked and looked for an app that I could create my own recipes and my own meal plan, and this is it. I’m so excited!! Can’t wait to use all the features!

Really enjoy having my recipes at hand, but still figuring out how to copy one from a website.
  • Best. App. Ever.!

    By Chefphil1
For a person like me who considers herself to have limited computer skills, this app is amazingly easy to use. Well worth the $4.99. In the last few days I have uploaded recipes that were ripped out of magazines and have been in my corner cabinet for years. ( I use them of course) yet now there is no more clutter. I shared my recipes via email in matter of a minute by PDF file, and I just uploaded in less than 30 seconds a recipe from the Food Network. I feel like a computer wiz and just LOVE this app. One of the best investments I ever made. One recommendation is that you read the recipes after you up load them Bc sometimes it will read 4 cups when it means 1/4cup. There can be a glitch with the backslash.
  • BEST recipe collection app ever

    By StinkyTofuVL
Pros: - well-organized for recipe steps/instructions - ingredients and steps on same screen - takes you step by step with you hit the “start” button; will even read it to you - cross off ingredients as you go so that you know you’ve got it covered - allows you to input different pictures for every step of the instructions - creates grocery lists based on your menu plan - grocery lists organized by aisle - OCR scan for recipes from a book - imports from other cooking websites - beautiful graphics and organization Cons: - doesn’t seem as popular as Paprika, so I hope they keep on providing updates and fixes and won’t fall off the radar - doesn’t suggest new recipes (though, that’s what the internet and cookbooks are for); this is purely a recipe collection app, not a recipe suggestion - needs feature where you can input the ingredients you have and it will find a recipe for you that can use your ingredients
