  • Too few read articles from a single publication

In general is good. But there are too few articles from economists, FT and economists read daily in my opinion. Only 2-3 new ones on average.
  • Such an obvious need

Really like that this covers so many great stories for free. Perfect mix to my audio library. Will likely purchase once my trial is up.

I am surprisingly satisfied with this app. The app makes it easy to find topics that you are interested in. I like that I can build an library to my liking and go back in to listen to it again. This app will definitely keep the curious mind informed of new discoveries, current events, and new topics from IT to psychology to history and much more.

I’ve used it for about a year now, and it’s great. All their articles are narrated by professional readers. They have articles from various news sites. If anything, they need to add more daily articles.

I’m not a huge book person, but I love reading long-form articles. Unfortunately, I live in a city, so even though my commute (at least, before the pandemic) would theoretically be good for scanning through articles, it’s hard to both pay attention to your surroundings and get invested in an article, especially if the topic is more complex—it usually just resulted in me either not finishing articles or having to read them 4x to absorb information properly. Curio is perfect for solving this issue. The voice actors speak clearly and at a good pace, with just enough enthusiasm that it doesn’t get dull (but not so much that feels like you’re listening to Audible, which would be distracting IMO). UX-wise, Curio’s interface is super simple and visually appealing, shout-out to the app designers & developers. For a yearlong subscription, it’s a good price, especially if you read a lot of publications it don’t have many (or any) subscriptions. I have 6-7 subscriptions to different places, and I’ve found Curio is good in conjunction with those!
  • No free tier

The stories seem pretty good, but after I finished my free tokens I can’t view any more. I’d probably convert if there was a free tier where I could listen to a couple stories a week and be sure the value is there for me. But instead I deleted the app from being annoyed at notifications for stories I can’t listen to.
