  • Ads...UGH

    By BD Reviewer
It’s a pretty cool product—but I’d almost rather scrap it altogether. I get that you need to cover development costs and invest in maintenance. But figure out a different way to implement ads. So incredibly intrusive. In-app ads always generate negative or angry sentiments toward a product that invades my concentration. I routinely swipe past/never click-thru. I wouldn’t think advertisers think this is effective—but clearly someone must click or they wouldn’t be there. I have to divert mental thought on my plant search to visually separate ad-from-meaningful-content. I resent that effort. Either offer a free product or require payment at the start—the present version is intolerable.

    This is fun and educational
  • Doesn’t work

I’ve taken about 3-4 pics of the same plant and it’s given me 3-4 different species. I’m sure it’s a very common indoor plant but for some reason it doesn’t recognize it. Deleting the app

I took a lot of pics. So far, only 2 have been saved. A lot of times I take a pic & it says something entirely different than what the app says. Help!!
  • Over sold with bugs

People give me house plants. Some arrive identified, some I can identify, and some are mysteries. I was hoping to solve the mysteries. I went online and read reviews of plant ID apps, and this one sounded like it was the right one with 600,000 species, and an easy interface. That wasn’t my experience. I started with some common succulents. Unfortunately the app failed miserably. So, I gave it something easy. Success! It correctly identified aloe. Not really a victory. So, I moved on to more tropical plants. The app did great, and was able to identify all of them with a little effort. A big issue is that the app appears to crash every time I decline an identification, and occasionally when I save an identification. To keep it working I had to force close the app every time and launch it again. Then, the lawn care ad that is disguised as more information on the photographed plant was very annoying. The monthly subscription is pushed fairly hard. I was browsing the features of the app, and almost gave up because of how often I was redirected to a page to sign up for premium service. I hadn’t even figured out the free app, and I was irritated by the premium upgrade. I did identify a mystery plant that has eluded identification for 17 years, a great success. Yet, the app still failed to meet my expectations.

Three times this app asked me for access to the camera, three times I gave it access. When I tried using it it said it didn’t have access. Go to settings, it has access. Delete.
  • Not even close

Took 5 different snaps of the same plant, not a single result was even close to what the plant even looked like!!
  • It can’t identify common plants

    By Medeb
I paid for the premium version of this app and I really wish I had not done that. The first few times I used the app, it correctly identified the plants I snapped. The last few weeks it has not identified one single plant correctly. Today I took a picture of a crepe myrtle tree, a very common species. This app told me it was some kind of cactus!! I am so dissatisfied and disappointed with this app. I am deleting it
  • Waste of money

I downloaded the app in June 2020 and submitted a picture for identification after paying for the subscription service. It is the end of July now and I have not received a response to the photo I submitted nor to my follow-up messages. Don’t waste your money.
