  • Paid political machine.

This service is not cheap. In addiction to that you are paying for them to inject their biased views into your subconscious mind. I was listening to a Christian book and Blinkist changed the married couple to a lesbian couple in the example. I got the original book to check and it was a heterosexual couple in the original book. This was an intentional decision on Blinkists part. Say what you want, liberal or conservative, Christian or atheist. But do you really want to pay a company to secretly brain wash you with their own political views of society? Maybe the blinkist team should go back and blink Orwell’s 1984.
  • Clearly Don’t Even Believe in the Value of Their Own Product; Blinkist is Embracing the Scam Model..

Don’t let the free trial run over. I missed the deadline by a few hours (my own fault), thinking they’d charge me for a month’s membership. Nope. It’s a whole year. That’s predatory if you ask me and Apple should remove them from the store. This is an utterly pathetic business model. Clearly Blinkist doesn’t even believe in the value or viability of their own product, or they wouldn’t have embraced the scam model. In terms of the service itself — I tried my hardest to make good use of it since I already spent so much money, but the selection is very limited. Mostly old classics, self help, NYT best sellers, and a few randoms. Its essentially sparknotes for people who couldn’t even be bothered to read the summery, but worse because the summaries are so subjective and clearly forced to cut out important info to make it fit within the rigid ‘blink’ model. Great for high schoolers pretending to know things to impress other high schoolers who themselves don’t know anything. Other than that, garbage. It honestly pains me to write this review because I hate leaving negative comments on products that I know someone worked hard to put into the world. Even in this case, I feel bad, but I absolutely wouldn’t have felt compelled to do this if Blinkshit had even been slightly less predators and went for a 3 month auto-renewal. Oh and BTW, I’d be critical of the positive reviews. A lot seem fake... just my own speculation.
  • Don’t get it

After 7 days it automatically charge $99 for the year unless changed to monthly for $16, even if you pay the monthly price you still can’t access the summaries. Everything will be locked until you get the upgrade for, “guess the price”, $99 for the year.... what a scam

This is a perfect place for People who claims they don’t have time to read the books but have desire to go through lot of books. It has curated content with great user interface. One suggestion: It would be great if you include dictionary similar to kindle that would be amazing! Great work!

I actually think they missed some important concepts in books I was familiar with. How can they exclude “black swan” event discussion from freakanonics? I’d like to see something a little more detailed than a 10 minute review as much is missed.

I had no idea this was a forced auto renewal situation, and missed charges coming in for the last 2 years. I requested a refund for at least my most recent renewal from just over a month ago. They know I haven’t used the app in over 2 years, but I was just told by customer service that they can’t offer refunds if it’s been over a month since renewal. This is criminal, and now I’ve paid for an app that I have zero interest using (I haven’t even had the app on my phone for over a year). I could understand if there was some actual loss of product (i.e. a steak from a restaurant that didn’t get eaten), but we’re talking about a digital product that has zero inventory loss, meaning zero lost dollars. Shame on you, Blinkest, for your sketchy customer service, especially during a time of global economic challenges.
