  • Poorly designed user interface

    By robchronos
Like many others, I’ve found the Apple TV app to be very poorly designed: 1. There’s only one way to search for titles: using the onscreen keyboard which is SO very painful. Every other streaming app has a search field that lets you use voice input or your iPhone keyboard if desired. 2. Movies don’t always disappear from the Continue Watching section when finished. You have to go to the HBO Max website to get rid of them. 3. You can’t see other episodes of a series from the Continue Watching section. If you want to see the episode list, you have to SEARCH for the series (did I mention how painful that is?) Because of all of these problems, I try to avoid the HBO Max app and instead use Apple’s TV app for things like searching (which fortunately includes results from HBO).
  • Downloaded episodes do not work

    By inuchan
There is no point in offering downloaded episodes if the app has a glitch where, when the phone is in airplane mode, it gets stuck in an infinite loop of trying to connect to the server and won’t let you watch the episodes you’ve downloaded.
  • HBO can’t connect

I downloaded the apple app on my phone and iPad and it keeps saying “HBOMax can’t connect “ how can I fix this ??
  • Problematic with iOS 14 and Chromecast

    By jluther
A pretty good app but it definitely needs work on its Chromecast connection. This is important, of course, since because of contract disputes, it can’t have any of its Max content seen on Roku. So, naturally, it’s a good idea to cast it to one’s big screen via Chromecast. But it doesn’t work under ios14. Not at all until Local Network is turned back on in manual settings— Apple reset it— but even then very glitchy and slow and “how do I do this?” Once Local Network is on, it just churns to connect. It will get there from the main screen (not the program) eventually, in my experience so far. But mainly, I’ve been casting from an old iPhone 6, which doesn’t have these new operating systems. Works fine. So: Apple and HBO Max and Google, please pull up your socks and get this seamlessly working, as it was before iOS 14.
  • I can’t believe we are paying so much

    By Maddy31998
Guys please get your app together. You are charging more than Netflix and I can’t even find go back to more episodes while from the video. There is no way to go to next episode while watching the current one. I want to say it’s new and it’s a new app but I won’t. You are HBO. You charging so much and there is no excuse. Just poach some Netflix developers.
  • Bring back hbo go

Possibly one of the worst apps ever. I have a very fast internet connection althoug ALTHOUGH each and Every time I try to watch using this app it stops many times and then won’t load at all. Why am I paying if it doesn’t work. Love the showtime app, it NEVER craps out like this one. Too bad because I really like the shows. Oh well, better I save my money. Also even after downloading content it still won’t play.
  • Can’t find your shows

    By FashionistaGoddess
Euphoria is supposed to be available on the HBO Max app with a subscription. I have a subscription and it’s nowhere to be found. extremely disappointing. If I’m paying for the subscription I should be getting the shows I signed up for. Horrible service.
  • Great content, buuuuut...

    By 123MyNickname321
I love the content on the streaming service, in fact I’ve been using HBO Max the most lately, but there’s just one problem. I’m pretty sure this isn’t a problem when using an Apple TV or accessing HBO Max using a tv app (on a tv), but when using the HBO Max app on an iPhone, the subtitles don’t work. I’ve restarted my phone and stuff, but the subtitles don’t work. I also wish it was easier to find content through a recommended section or something, rather than having to search through every genre. Edit: After iOS 14, auto-picture in picture was working fine at first, and still is except for HBO Max. Now HBO Max’s Picture in Picture doesn’t work automatically like other apps.
  • Thanks for #TheSnyderCut.

Great start. Just wish shows and movies were in 4K.
  • Does not project from iPhone XR to HDTV via HDMI

    By iPhone XR via HDMI
The app experience is overall fine on my iPhone. The problem is that when I connect my iPhone XR to my HDTV via my Apple Lighting/HDMI connecter I only hear the audio through the TV but there is no image. HBO Max technical support has been unsuccessful in resolving. This should be the same experience as Netflix, Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video which all work seamlessly through HDMI. Hoping the development teams at Time Warner Media figure out the flaw and push an update as soon as possible.
